A clear infill keeps the view and the light
Balustrade infill panels in clear plastic keep sightlines open on a stair, a mezzanine or a balcony where a solid or slatted infill would close the space in. They are lighter than glass and are cut, drilled and handled with ordinary site tools.
Read this before you order a balustrade panel
Balustrades are a regulated element. In Australia, barrier height, infill loading and the gaps a panel may leave are set by the National Construction Code and the relevant Australian Standards, and what is acceptable depends on the building, the fall height and who uses it — a private stair and a public mezzanine are not judged the same way.
We supply cut-to-size panels to your specification. We do not certify a balustrade and we do not tell you a panel is compliant: the material, thickness and fixing method have to be specified by your builder, engineer or certifier for that structure. Bring us the specification and we will cut exactly to it, including the edge finish and the hole pattern.
What we cut
- Clear acrylic panels for interior and sheltered applications, polished on the exposed edges.
- Polycarbonate where impact resistance is the governing requirement.
- Fixing holes and slots cut to your centres, with clearance for thermal movement.
- Radiused corners and shaped profiles for curved stairs and non-rectangular voids.
Edges
An infill panel's edge is at hand height and gets touched, so it is worth finishing properly. We diamond-polish exposed edges to a clear finish; a sawn or routed edge is fine where the panel is captured in a channel and never seen.
Cut and finished in our own workshop
Plastic Online is the online counter of Holland Plastics, a Gold Coast fabrication workshop. CNC routing, laser cutting, vacuum forming and plastic welding all happen on one floor, so the person cutting your part can read what you wrote rather than a summary of it.
We cut to ±0.1 mm. Tell us which dimensions are critical — and whether the tolerance has to hold across a stack of parts — and we will confirm that against your drawing at quote stage. A sawn panel, a routed profile and a laser-cut edge come off three different machines, so naming the critical dimension is worth more than assuming it.
Finished parts ship Australia-wide from the capital-city depot nearest you, not always from Queensland. There is no minimum order: one panel is a job.
